The Only Rock of My Salvation

O Changeless God, Under the conviction of thy Spirit I learn that the more I do, the worse I am, the more I know, the less I know, the more holiness I have, the more sinful I am, the more I love, the more there is to love. O wretched man that I am! O Lord, I have a wild heart and cannot stand before thee; I am like a bird before a man. How little I love thy truth and ways! I neglect prayer, by thinking I have prayed enough and earnestly, by knowing thou hast saved my soul. Of all hypocrites, grant that I may not be an evangelical hypocrite, who sins more safely because grace abounds, who tells his lusts that Christ's blood cleanseth them, who reasons that God cannot cast him into hell, for he is saved, who loves evangelical preaching, churches, Christians, but lives unholily. My mind is a bucket without a bottom, with no spiritual understanding, no desire for the Lord's Day, every learning but never reaching the truth, always at the gospel-well but never holding water. Give me a broken hear that yet carries home the water of grace.- Paradoxes/Valley of Vision

Jesus Loves Me This I Know: For The Bible Tells Me So

How simple the title of this blog. How simple, yet how often do our lives reflect that? If we know that Jesus loves us and we are basing that off of the WORD OF GOD, should we not also base our lives off of the very same Truth?
I have such a desire to write and tell you what God is doing in my life, but I have had this resistance because of a silence that has been placed into my life. I desire that my life and very words reflect that of what the Bible says. 2 Timothy 3:16, "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work." (That was verse 17 too.) I think that as christians as a result of the teachings of the average American church today do not base our lives off of the Word, and question every circumstance, in how can we be holy today because we don't really believe that it is a reality. I mean, do you really believe that the Divine God came down in an incarnate form and DIED on the cross, and conquered sin? If we believe this Truth to be a reality, we would be on our faces! I have really been dwelling on the reality of God lately. He is real. He has really implanted His Holy Spirit inside of me, and I am radically changed. Do I live that way? By GOD! I HOPE SO! Do you see the fruit of the Spirit? If we REALLY believe that God is real, our lives will reflect that! We will be trembling before the throne of God. Have you felt the wind?
Read Ezekiel 1. The throne of God is painted with words... Luke spoke on Tuesday night at the student lead worship and he talked about how OTHER and COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GOD IS than anything else. There is no comparison. Once any prophet who attempts to describe these visions... they are described, "LIKE...a fire.." There is no one like OUR GOD! He is completely other, untainted, HOLY.
I have never been so in awe. I am so scatter-brained and I do not know whether it is a good thing or not. I am so in awe of Christ, yet so in a deep hatred of MY STUPID FLESH. God is really working in me. He is definately going to complete this work He has started in me. :) And that day... :)

Prayer:
- Southwestern Seminary Students: focus, encouragement, a continual pursual of God in the midst of the studies, and just pushing through the end of the sem (greek students especially).
- Jonathan Murdock: learning the language rapidly, he would continue to thirst and hunger to know God more, and that he would be used as a vessel of mercy to vessels of wrath.
- There are a select few that I love and trust here. They all need to be continually seeking, chasing, thirsting, hungering for who God is. (Psalm 42:1) To be wise with our money, time, and ministry.

"He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high." Hebrews 1:3
